Anicent Rome Government
Roman Senate-

The Roman Senate was a powerful body of 300 members that advised Roman leaders. A majority of senators were patricians, but the assembly was mainly made up of plebeians. If you were in the Senate you served life terms. As soon as you were admitted you served for the rest of your life, which isn't that long considering they only lived till about the age of 35. The Senate did jobs such as advising the consuls, directing spending (includes tax dollars), disapproved or approved the laws made by the assembly, or made decisions concerning relationships with foreign powers.
