Anicent Rome Government
Differences between Rome and United States government-
The Roman and American governments were very similar, there's no doubt about that. Even though they are similar, they are some major differences. for starters, while the roman senate had 300 members, the United States senate had 100 members. The roman government also had the Assemblies who made the laws and selected officials. The equvelant thing to the Assemblies in America is the House of Represenatives (HOR). In the HOR, there are 435 members, which are selected by the state. Another difference between Rome's and America's government is the Consistution and the 12 Tables. In Rome, they had somehting called the 12 Tables wich established the citizens legal, economic, property, and social rights. In the U.S., we have a document called the U.S. Consitution. This piece of parchment sets forth both individual and governmental powers. Also, while Rome's government had two consuls who served for 1 year, the U.S. had one president who serves for four years. The last differece between the Roman and United States governments are that America has the Supreme Court of nine justices while the Roman Republic had eight judges who oversaw courts and governed the provinces. As you can see in the paragraph above there are a lot of differences between the United States and Roman governements, but they were and are both, very memorable.
